Privacy notice
Last updated: November 4, 2026
This notice explains what information Hardboil Folio (“we”, “the publication”) handles when you read this website. The short version: the site is a set of static pages, has no accounts, forms, advertising or analytics, and sets no cookies.
1. Who is responsible
The Hardboil Folio editorial desk, publishing digitally from Tallinn, Estonia, is the controller of any personal data described in this notice. You can reach us at editorial@hardboilfolio.org.
2. What this website stores in your browser
The site does not set cookies. It uses your browser’s local storage for one purpose only: when you select “Got it” on the storage notice, an entry named hardboilfolio.storage-notice with the value acknowledged is saved so the notice does not reappear. The entry contains no personal data, is never sent to us or anyone else, and stays on your device until you clear your browser’s site data.
The interactive tools (the stage converter, pairing filter and batch scaler) run entirely in your browser. Your selections are not saved or transmitted.
3. Analytics, advertising and third parties
- We do not use analytics, tracking pixels, fingerprinting or advertising technologies.
- Pages load no scripts, fonts, images or other resources from third-party servers.
- We do not build profiles of visitors and do not make automated decisions about you.
4. Server and hosting logs
Like any website, the server that delivers these pages may automatically record technical information such as your IP address, the time of the request, the page requested and your browser type. These records are handled by the hosting provider for security and reliable operation. The publication does not use them to identify or track individual readers.
5. If you email us
If you write to editorial@hardboilfolio.org, we receive your email address, your name if you include it and the content of your message. We use this only to read and respond to your message, to correct published content and to keep a record of corrections and requests. Our legal bases under the GDPR are our legitimate interest in running an editorial publication and, for privacy requests, compliance with legal obligations. We keep correspondence for no longer than 24 months after the conversation ends, unless a longer record is needed to document an editorial correction or to meet a legal obligation. Your email provider and ours process the message in transit and in storage.
6. Your rights under the GDPR
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you may ask us to give you access to your personal data, correct it, erase it, restrict or object to its processing and, where applicable, provide it in a portable format. Where processing rests on consent, you may withdraw consent at any time. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority, such as the Estonian Data Protection Inspectorate (Andmekaitse Inspektsioon).
7. California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)
We do not sell or share personal information, as those terms are defined under California law, and we do not use it for cross-context behavioral advertising. The only personal information we may receive is what you send us by email (identifiers such as your email address, and the content of your message). California residents may request to know, correct or delete personal information we hold about them, and will not be treated differently for doing so. We honor opt-out preference signals by default because we do not sell or share data.
8. How to make a request
Send your request to editorial@hardboilfolio.org. We may need to confirm that the request comes from the email address concerned. We aim to respond within 30 days.
9. Children
This publication is written for a general adult audience and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
10. Security
The site consists of static files and a strict Content Security Policy that restricts the page to loading resources from its own origin. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we limit the data we handle to what is described here.
11. Changes to this notice
If our practices change, we will update this page and the date above. Please review it periodically.
